Nanoscience, Nanoengineering and Nanomedicine - NANO3

NANO3, which is based in Cal-IT2 provides central access for researchers from a variety of areas such as academic, governmental, and industrial to a broad range of equipment and laboratory facilities for micro and nano fabrication. In doing so it offers an avenue for qualified non-UCSD personnel to utilize such capabilities.

In addition to providing essential microfabrication capabilities for mainstream research on electronic and optoelectronic materials and devices, this laboratory is intended to facilitate the pursuit of research in emerging, interdisciplinary, and rapidly growing fields such as biomedical and biochemical devices, heterogeneous integrated devices and circuits, and nanoscale science and technology.

The on-going projects within NANO3 cover a wide range of research fields, including advanced III-V nitride transistors, lasers and photonic integrated circuits for optical communication, nanoscale photonic structures and photonic crystals, various microfluidic biochips, and nanoscale biosensors, just to name a few.

NANO3 is open to faculty, students, and researchers at UCSD and research personnel from outside institutions. NANO3 currently serve research groups from the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology and Chemistry, at UCSD, as well as investigators from local industrial affiliations.

NANO3 maintains its own website which can be reached via the following link nano3.calit2.net
